A decorative Fenton art glass basket with a ribbed, shell-like body and an applied handle drawn up from the rim. The glass is formed in warm amber-gold tones and overlaid with flowing applied white glass decoration across both the interior and exterior, creating a strong contrast of colour and texture. The basket has a scalloped rim and a textured base, consistent with Fenton’s later decorative glass forms.
History and details
Fenton was a leading American art glass manufacturer, producing a wide range of decorative and collectible glassware. In its later years, the company routinely signed its pieces and focused on bold colour combinations and sculptural forms aimed at collectors. This basket belongs to that later phase of signed Fenton production, prior to the factory’s closure in 2011.
